HONOLULU -- Honolulu firefighters battled a blaze Sunday that destroyed an apartment unit at Kinau Villa Apartments.

Officials said the fire began at about 1:45 p.m. on the fourth floor the complex, located on 827 Kinau St., and was put under control by 1:59 p.m.

Officials said two residents were evacuated while firefighters worked to control the blaze. The displaced tenants are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Damage was estimated at nearly $125,000.
