The family and friends of Kaiya Kapahu celebrated the young girl's life Saturday at the Nuuanu Memorial Park.

About 100 people gathered at the chapel for an hour-long service.

"She was such a beautiful 5-year-old," said Kapahu's uncle Daniel Kapahu.

The special needs child was found dead in her uncle's home in Phoenix, Arizona last month.

Her uncle, Leonard Orta Jr., is charged with his neice's murder.

"She had so much potential. ...There was so much she had to offer everybody and she touched everybody's lives," said Kapuhu's father Manny Kapahu.

Following the service, rainbow pigeons were released as a symbol as a final farewell.
