80K+ Visitors Walk Through Palace Doors In 2009

HONOLULU -- A record number of visitors went to the Iolani Palace last year.There were 80,362 people who walked through the doors of the palace in 2009.I was a 4.5 percent increase over 2008.In response to the growing interest, the palace will now be open on Mondays.The executive director of the Friends of Iolani Palace said the increase in tourism is connected to an aggressive marketing campaign promoting Hawaii's royal heritage.
