HONOLULU -- Former "Designing Woman" and "24" star Jean Smart has signed on to play the governor in the remake of Hawaii Five-O.The original role was played by a man, actor Richard Denning.Relative newcomer Alex O'Loughlin has already been cast in the lead role of Detective Steve McGarrett and "Lost" star Daniel Dae Kim will play McGarrett's sidekick, Chin Ho Kelly.
