Michelle and Brandon Fermahin were scheduled to get married Saturday.

But then the tsunami warning came, wiping out their scheduled morning wedding.

"Just really depressed and bummed because this was supposed to be my wedding day," Michelle Fermahin said.

The couple was forced to cancel their 10 a.m. wedding with a reception to follow at Hale Koa Hotel.

That's the hour police and Civil Defense started shutting down Waikiki streets and when the hotel started evacuating guests from all common areas at ground level and below.

"We had to call the florist and the photographer. That's the hard part. Because we already put money down for certain stuff, so it's kind of like, we either lose out on that or make sure we reschedule for another day," Michelle Fermahin said.

They were concerned about their out-of-town guests.

"I thought, no, everybody has to go home," Brandon Fermahin said.

"And they said, 'Don't worry, everything's OK,'" Michelle Fermahin said.

The Fermahins scrambled to reschedule their wedding and reception for Sunday after the tsunami warning was called off.

Hale Koa agreed and the Fermahins finally got hitched Sunday morning.

"The hotel is very good about accommodating and not charging extra stuff," Michelle Fermahin said.

Her groom said, "Everything worked out good."
