Authorities Say Suspect Also Tied To Recent Burglary

Big Island authorities on Wednesday night charged a 28-year-old man in connection with a Hilo pharmacy robbery.

Authorities charged Paul Santoro with first-degree robbery, three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and firearms and assault charges.

Two pharmacy workers were injured during the robbery at Puainako Town Center, police said.

The rifle used in the pharmacy robbery on Tuesday was taken in a home burglary on Monday, police said. Police charged Santoro with one count of first-degree burglary and one count of first-degree theft.

Detectives found 16 rounds of ammunition, items taken from the burglary and a small amount of drugs in Santoro's bag, police said.

Santoro remains in custody on $223,300 bail.
