Man Dies In Fall At Pali Lookout
Honolulu-Bound Traffic Backs Up During Recovery

HONOLULU -- A Honolulu man in his 80s died Monday after he fell off the Pali Lookout, Honolulu police said.The Honolulu Fire Department was called in at about 10:15 a.m. to help recover the fallen man.The man was outside an area that had guardrails, police said. Firefighters rappelled down to reach the man, police said. They determined the man died, officials said.The victim was at the lookout with his wife, officials said."He was out side of the protected area. We don't know why he was out there, but it was slippery and he may have just slipped and fallen," Honolulu Police Department Maj. William Chur saidPolice closed part of the Honolulu-bound lanes of Pali Highway as HFD units used the roadway to help search for the fallen man. The closure backed up traffic.
