Waipahu Family Loses Home In Overnight Blaze
Authorities: 9 Family Members, 3 Pets Rescued From Fire

HONOLULU -- The American Red Cross on Thursday said it is assisting a Waipahu family who lost their home in an overnight fire.Authorities said the fire occurred just after midnight at a house at Kahui Place in Village Park.All nine family members were able to make it out of the home safely with the help of firefighters and bystanders, KITV reported."The house was fully involved so the fire was confined to the house but the house is destroyed," said Capt. Terry Seelig with the Honolulu Fire Department.Five family members were taken to an area hospital for observation, but officials said none suffered life-threatening injuries.Authorities said three dogs were also rescued from the burning home.Investigators said they are still trying to determine what sparked the blaze.Officials said damage to the home is estimated at more than $400,000.
