Kona Fire Keeps Burning Despite Rain
POSTED: 5:50 pm HST December 20, 2009
Despite the heavy rains, a brush fire continued to burn in South Kona on Sunday night. The fire started Thursday afternoon at Hokukano Ranch, and has now destroyed about 17 hundred acres.Because the fire is "5,000 feet up on the mountain," it is above the rain clouds and is not affected by the heavy downpours. Fire crews said it will continue to burn through the night. The fire is not threatening any homes or structures and no one has been injured.
