HONOLULU -- The Honolulu medical examiner on Thursday identified the toddler killed in Kahaluu when he was run over by a vehicle driven by his mother.

Ezekiel Estocado, 1, of Kaneohe was killed on Ahaolelo Road at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, officials said.

The boy apparently ran into the path of a silver 2003 Chevy Tahoe as his 31-year-old mother was backing the SUV out of the driveway, police said.

The family brought the child to the Kahaluu fire station, where firefighters worked on the boy until paramedics arrived.

Paramedics treated the child and took him to Castle Medical Center in critical condition with severe head injuries.
