HONOLULU -- An 80-year-old woman died on Tuesday after a vehicle struck her while she walked through a store parking lot.

The woman was walking through the Don Quijote parking lot at Kaheka Street when a car hit her at about 9:10 a.m.

Paramedics treated the woman and took her to Queen's Medical Center in critical condition, where she later died.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

The driver did not speak English, so an interpreter had to help him tell police what happened.

The woman appeared to be in a frail condition even before the crash, officials said.
