Wendy Latchum, the widow of murdered Army pilot John Latchum, told KITV4 News Wednesday that other teenagers who she says were involved in her husband's death should be prosecuted.
Latchum spoke publicly to KITV4 News from Florida for the first time since her husband was shot to death at the Waianae Army Recreation Center in June 1998.
Two teenagers, Roberto Miguel and Bryson Jose, were convicted of felony murder in federal court Tuesday.
Both face a mandatory life in prison without parole.
Latchum told KITV4 News reporter Daryl Huff that she is happy with the convictions and that the two deserve their sentence.
"They didn't have to do what they did," Latchum said. "We were no threat to them. We were just standing on the porch making sure they were leaving. There was no reason for them to pull the trigger."
Latchum attended the month-long trial almost every day, though she was not in court for the verdict.
She said there were several more boys who were involved who lied to protect themselves.
"I was there and I know there was more than two boys standing on the other side of that door," Latchum told KITV4 News. "And I also know there was more than two boys standing there when that gun was fired."
