Search Called Off For Missing Hana Couple

Maui Fire Teams Search By Air, Ground Along Shore

POSTED: 2:16 pm HST November 30, 2009

The Maui Fire Department on Monday called off the search for a Hana couple that disappeared on Thanksgiving Day.

Carl and Rae Lindquist, both 75, were last seen at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Hotel Hana Maui, where they had dinner.

The couple's Ford sport utility vehicle was found Saturday morning in a streambed about 100 yards from the ocean. The SUV was about 0.5 miles from Ulaino Road where the couple lived.

Teams searched by air along the coast and on the ground along the shore and stream.

There was heavy rain in the area on the night the Lindquists disappeared.
