HONOLULU -- Honolulu police arrested a 28-year-old Waikiki man on assault charges. He is accused of stabbing his mother.

Police said the suspect asked his mom for money. When she said she didn't have any, he stabbed her in the hip with a paring knife, police said.

The son was arrested two days later at his residence. His name was not immediately released.

The 53-year-old victim did not suffer serious injuries.
