MOKULEIA, Hawaii -- Honolulu police arrested a 25-year-old man the said sexually assaulted a hiker near Kaena Point on Thursday.

Police arrested the man on a couple of other warrants and transported him to the main cellblock.

He faces third-degree sexual assault and kidnapping charges in connection with the alleged attack.

A 27-year-old woman hiking on the Waialua side of Kaena Point told police the man approached her from behind at about 10:30 a.m.

The man held her against her will and touched her inappropriately, she told police.

The woman escaped and ran toward the Waialua and Mokuleia side of Kaena Point.

She was not seriously injured, police said.

The man ran off in the other direction. Police captured him on the Makaha side of Kaena Point.

The man has no local address.

Police did not say what his two warrants were for.

The man has not yet been charged.
