Big Island police are calling on the public to help them solve a sexual assault case that happened on Halloween night in Kailua-Kona.

The attack happened after Halloween festivities in downtown Kailua-Kona at about 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, police said.

A woman was waiting for a ride on Kuakini Highway when four men attacked her, police said. She suffered injuries to her face and neck. At least one man sexually assaulted the woman, police said.

Police describe the men as stocky, between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, with dark complexions and short buzzed-style hair. One wore a light-color T-shirt with either an Asian design or a character on the torso area.

At least one of the men was spotted running south on Kuakini Highway.

Police asked that anyone who has information about the case to call Detective Gerald Wike at 326-4646, ext. 302, or the Hawaii County Police Department's non-emergency line at 935-3311.
