Big Island police arrested a 19-year-old Kona man in connection with a series of crimes committed in the Kailua-Kona area during October and November.

Police said that between Oct. 14 and Nov. 14, Justin M. J. Gryde broke into at least four homes and one business in the Kailua-Kona area. In some of the break-ins, Gryde took vehicle keys from the homes and stole vehicles, police said.

The crime spree also included breaking into vehicles and stealing mopeds, police said.

Authorities recovered all of the vehicles and mopeds, along with two credit cards, jewelry, a retired police officer's retirement badge and keys to houses, condominiums and cars, police said.

Police charged Gryde with 17 offenses including burglary and theft.

He remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
