MADD, City Officials Encourage Safe Driving

City Vehicles To Hold Red Ribbon Reminders

POSTED: 3:44 pm HST November 20, 2009

Mother's Against Drunk Driving teamed up with city officials on Friday to promote their campaign against drunken driving at Tamarind Park.

The City and County of Honolulu is part of the "Tie One On For Safety" campaign.

As a message to not drink and drive, official city vehicles will don the red MADD ribbons through the end of the year.

With the holidays approaching, motorists are being reminded to have a designated driver.

"The holidays are wonderful time for all of us. There is nothing more tragic than having a loss during the holidays," Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Terry Seelig said.

City officials added that safe driving should be practiced any time of the year.

The Honolulu Police Department and HFD are also participating in the public safety campaign.
