Holiday Visitations Days Canceled After Apparent Abuse

Rampant sick leave at Hawaii prisons is causing heartbreak for prisoners' families and heartburn for prison managers.

Apparent sick leave abuse has plagued the prison system for years, but now, with the state budget so tight, prison managers are no longer able to afford the overtime to make up for the excessive sick calls.

The result: almost all visitation days including holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving have been canceled.
