The Coast Guard dispatched teams to search for a fisherman who disappeared from a boat off the Big Island.

The fishing vessel Kealia was about 60 miles west of the Big Island when fisherman Dennis Johnson called for help after noticing his brother was missing.

A USCG helicopter, a C-130 plane and several vessels were sent to the area to search for Devin Johnson, 23, of Kamuela.

Dennis Johnson said the two took turns at the helm and sleeping. At about 2 a.m., he noticed Devin missing. Dennis Johnson called the boat's owner, who called the Coast Guard.

Devon Johnson did not have a life jacket on, officials said. He was last seen wearing an olive green sweater and black shorts.

The Coast Guard has searched more than 1,600-square miles so far.

The Marines are expected to join the search with aircraft along with private fishing vessels from the Kona side and a family friend with an aircraft.
