Two brothers killed in a car crash in October were being remembered on Saturday.

Family, friends and community members gathered at the beach near where the crash happened.

Benjamin Makekau III, 19, and his older brother Ikaikakane Makekau were killed in a one-car crash Oct. 18 on Kalanianaole Highway.

Their family describes the boys as inseparable.

Hundreds honored the young men who were described as strong-willed, easy going and full of life and laughter.

"They're very humble kids, very humble boys. [They were] very loving and very strong ... and I know they stay in one better place right now," said cousin Frederick Petty.

"They'll be really missed because they were so awesome. They were good, good friends, good bunch of guys," said friend Cassandra Jones.

Ikaikakane was living on the Big Island and was visiting Oahu to watch his sister dance hula.

Benjamin leaves behind a wife and two young children.
