Hawaii Tourism Authority Meeting This WeekBoard Expected To Hear PresentationsPOSTED: 9:13 am HST November 7, 2009 HONOLULU -- The Hawaii Tourism Authority is due to hold a board meeting this week.The board is expected to hear presentations from the Department of Land and Natural Resources about plans for state parks.It will also hear about department efforts to protect the sands at Waikiki beaches.Friday's meeting is to be held at the Hawaii Convention Center.The tourism authority is funded by revenue from the transient accommodations tax imposed on those who stay at hotels and other short-term vacation rentals.The agency sets out a strategy for the state's tourism industry, and oversees the marketing of Hawaii.
