Man Convicted For Setting Girlfriend On Fire
Conviction Comes After 2 Mistrials

HONOLULU -- A jury convicted a Honokai Hale man on Thursday for setting his girlfriend on fire.Kim Massey allegedly poured gas on Marie Siarot, then used a lighter to set her on fire in October 2006, prosecutors said.This was Massey's third trial. The first two trials ended in mistrial.The jury convicted Massey of first-degree arson and first-degree assault.He faces up to 20 years in prison on those charges. Prosecutors originally charged Massey with attempted murder.Massey claimed it was an accident. A friend told KITV in 2006 that Massey had lost power and used lanterns with gasoline to light his home.
