A 79-year-old woman was critically injured Tuesday when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing King Street in Moiliili, officials said.

The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m.

The pedestrian was hit and dragged by the vehicle for about 30 feet, authorities said.

"We heard a thud and then head a lady screaming. A gentleman tried to stop a car from moving forward. Once it got ahead safely it revealed a lady on the ground. She was all bust up," witness Thomas Gaupp said.

The victim was in badly hurt with injuries to her hip and head, Gaupp said.

Police shut down the eastbound traffic from Isenberg to Hausten streets during the investigation.

Paramedics treated the woman and took her to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

A 60-year-old female was behind the wheel of the Ford Taurus when she hit the pedestrian, investigators said.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be involved in the collision, police said.
