HONOLULU -- A jury in Circuit Court on Monday morning found Jerrico Lindsey guilty of second-degree murder.Lindsey was accused of killing Benjamin Grajeda with an automatic pistol on Kaneohe Bay Drive in May 2007."This doesn't happen in Hawaii, such a brazen type shooting right in the middle of the street in front of many cars, to have these witnesses come forward serves the community well and send a message that 'We are not going to let this kind of things happen. No one is going to scare us,'" Deputy Prosecutor Darrell Wong said. Two accomplices testified against Lindsey, but his defense attorney said one of them, William Freeman, was the actual shooter and bragged about it to two inmates who testified in Lindsey's defense."He was disappointed at the verdict. We were hopeful that the jury would decide that, in fact, he did not commit the murder," defense attorney William Harrison said.Lindsey was also convicted of kidnapping, robbery and burglary, charges that could lead to a long prison term.Prosecutors said Melissa Ordonez dated both Lindsey and Grajeda. Ordonez allowed the men into the Grajeda's home to steal drugs and money the night he was killed, prosecutors said.
