A New York man alleged to be a mafia soldier is in custody in Hawaii.

Vito Pipitone, 27, was indicted Wednesday in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is allegedly an associate of the Bonanno crime family, involved in a racketeering-related stabbing five years ago.

Hawaii prosecutors said Pipitone, who was married in New York last weekend, was on Oahu for his honeymoon. Pipitone turned himself in at the Honolulu federal building Wednesday after he heard about the indictment, Hawaii prosecutors said.

He is scheduled to be released on $50,000 bail on Friday in Honolulu unless a judge in New York orders him held without bail.
