The medical examiner has identified the 17-year-old boy who died after being struck by a boat's propeller in Hawaii Kai Sunday afternoon.

He is Keahihoku Lum, of Honolulu. Lum was a senior at Farrington High School.

Lum died of traumatic injuries to his chest and abdomen, caused by the boat's propeller, the medical examiner said.

The teenager is one of two people struck in Maunalua Bay, near the Kalanianaole Highway Bridge, authorities said. Lum was diving with friends when he was run over by a fishing boat, police said.

The boat's operator stopped to help Lum and took him to shore, authorities said.

Lum was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The other person did not suffer major injuries, firefighters said.
