A pedestrian was critically injured after he was struck by a van in Kaka'ako Friday night.
At around 11:12 p.m., a 32-year-old man was struck by a van near 680 Ala Moana Boulevard. The man was hospitalized in critical condition.
Police closed the westbound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard between Keawe and Coral Streets during the investigation. The road was reopened just after 2 a.m. Saturday.
Witnesses say the man was walking during a red light and the van who struck him had a green light.
Police tell us the man was in the military and involved with the RIMPAC exercises taking place this month at Pearl Harbor.
Due to the Fourth of July fireworks show at Ala Moana Regional Park, there was a lot of traffic in the area at the time.
