There are seven democrats vying for the first congressional district seat and each is trying to distinguish themselves from the pack.
Representative Colleen Hanabusa holds that seat now, but she's giving it up to run for the United States Senate.
The seven democrats hoping to take her place met Thursday night on Insights on PBS Hawaii.
They were each asked to offer three words that define them and they responded:
"Caring, hardworking," said State Rep. Mark Takai.
"Passionate, righting the wrongs," said State Sen. Donna Mercado Kim.
"Energetic, optimistic, qualified," said State Sen. Wil Espero.
"Effective, sincere, compassionate," said Honolulu City Councilman Ikaika Anderson
"Enthusiastic and hardworking," said Joey Manahan, another Honolulu City Councilman.
"Persistent and hardworking," said Stanley Chang, Honolulu City Councilman.
"Uncorruptable by corporations," said human rights activist Kathryn Xian.
