Robbery Suspect Dies After Altercation

HONOLULU -- Police said a man in his 30s died after an altercation in Waikiki that stemmed from a botched robbery Monday night. Investigators identified the man as the robbery suspect.It happened shortly before 9 p.m. at the ABC Store in the Hyatt Regency.The man tried to rob the store when an employee caught him in the act, police said. The man allegedly assaulted the employee and a bystander intervened.During the struggle, the man fell unconscious and later died at a nearby hospital.
