Hikers discovered the body of a 52-year-old Lihue man at the bottom of Opaekaa Falls on Kauai Friday.

Police have not released the man's name.

Two visitors, who were hiking in the area, found the victim floating and reported it to police shortly after 10 a.m.

Emergency medical officials flew the victim to Wailua Homesteads Park and from there he was transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials are investigating what caused the man's death.
