  • Man's Body Found In Waters Off Puna

    Police Say Man Possibly Drowned

    A 64-year-old man was found in waters off Puna on Wednesday, police said.

    Police identified the man as Hamilton Manley, of Kurtistown.

    Police responded to a call of a possible drowning at the beach area near Kapoho Vacationland subdivision at about 9:45 a.m.

    Bystanders pulled the man out of the water. Emergency teams treated the man and took him to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11 a.m.

    Police ordered an autopsy to determine Manley's exact cause of death.
