Kauai police arrested a Kapaa man Friday morning after they said he tried to rob a yoga studio with a machete.

Michael Cole, 29, walked into a Kalaheo yoga studio with a machete, sunglasses and a mask, and tried to steal a purse, police said.

Several people in the class tackled him. Cole then left the purse behind to run away, police said.

Cole then got into his car and drove down Kaumualii Highway, with police not far behind. Police chased Cole, who crashed into several street signs and vehicles, all the way to Kapaa, where he was arrested and is currently held in a cell block.

Police are continuing their investigation.
