Demolition Begins On Central Union Preschool

School Hopes To Rebuild Classrooms Destroyed By Arson

POSTED: 3:07 pm HST June 2, 2009

Volunteers on Tuesday began demolition of the historic Central Union Church Preschool that was damaged in an arson fire in October.

The workers took down a section of the building bringing in dumpster bins to help gather the debris.

The fire nine months ago shut down the school and burned some of the classrooms and offices.

The school hopes to raise $13 million to help with construction of the new facility. Donations are being accepted to help the school rebuild.

The project will continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day except Sundays through June 14.
