Soldier Dies In Single-Vehicle Crash

The Hawaii National Guard on Monday held a memorial service for a fallen soldier in Kuwait.

Spc. Cwislyn K. Walter, 19, died in a single-vehicle outside Kuwait City on Feb. 19, officials said.

Walter was assigned to the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and deployed to Kuwait in October 2008. She joined the Hawaii National Guard in April 2007.

The Guard held a memorial service was held at Camp Virginia, Kuwait. Nearly 600 soldiers from around Kuwait attended the service.

Three other soldiers were injured in the accident. One is in stable condition in a Kuwaiti hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
