Superferry Out 2 Weeks For Maintenance

Ship To Undergo Coast Guard Re-Certification

POSTED: 4:12 pm HST January 12, 2009

The Hawaii Superferry will be out of service for two weeks next month while the vessel is in drydock for annual maintenance and re-certification required by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The company announced Monday that the Alakai will be drydocked at Honolulu Harbor from Feb. 2 through Feb. 17.

Voyages during that time have been canceled. Customers who hold reservations for that time period are being offered the option of receiving a full refund or booking for a later date, the company said.

The Alakai seats up to 800 passengers and can carry about 200 vehicles. It links Honolulu with Maui's Kahului Harbor.
