There was a raging torrent of water on Kamehameha IV Road in Kalihi on Wednesday morning after a 24-inch water main break.

The break was discovered just after 12:30 a.m. between Roe Street and Pio Place. A neighbor said at least one house was flooded with 2 feet of water.

"Look like one big surf coming through -- one big surf. Everything, garbage cans, everything came toward us," area resident Keala Harvest said.

Kamehameha IV Road reopened, but Board of Water Supply crews expected to work on repairs throughout the day.
