HONOLULU -- The popular "White Rabbit" candy has been pulled off local store shelves as a precaution.

Testing in Singapore revealed the candy contained melamine, the chemical that sickened thousands of babies in China.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is now testing the Chinese-made candy.

The melamine scandal has been blamed on Chinese dairies, that are thought to have use melamine to disguise watered down milk. The chemical has caused the death of four babies in China, who drank infant formula containing melamine.

The state Department of Health said it has not received any reports of illness caused by White Rabbit Candy in the islands.

The FDA has visited hundreds of stores that sell Chinese-made goods and is sampling and testing milk-derived products such as candies, desserts and beverages that could contain milk products from China.
