A federal judge on Tuesday ruled that the city is at fault for 297 violations of the Federal Clean Water Act.

Millions of gallons of sewage have been discharged from the Sand Island Sewage Treatment Plant and other sewer collection systems over the past few years.

The Sierra Club is among those sued over that.

Judge David Ezra Tuesday found the City and County of Honolulu liable for 297 violations of the Federal Clean Water Act, the Sierra Club said.

The ruling comes 10 months after the judge found the city liable for 2,653 other violations.

Next the court will determine the penalties to pass on to the city.
