A newspaper distributor accused of raping a 13-year-old boy pleaded not guilty in court on Monday.

Frank C. LeFrandt Jr., 47, is a contracted distributor for the Honolulu Advertiser. He is accused of sexually assaulting the victim in a restroom early Sunday morning. The victim is a delivery boy.

LeFrandt made his appearance at Honolulu Circuit Court by video from Oahu Community Correctional Center. He has been charged with first-degree sexual assault.

LeFrandt is being held on $100,000 bail. His trial is scheduled for the week of Oct. 20.

"My client has no criminal record. He's being doing this job for the newspaper company for, I don't know, about 15 or 17 years," Bakke said.

His attorney, Victor Bakke, said LeFrandt’s family was surprised by the charges. He has two children.

He has been a distributor for about 15 years for The Honolulu Advertiser.
