He's known around the globe for his huge murals of whales and other sea life, but now Wyland Waikiki is set to finish his final mural and hopefully bring the planet together.

Wyland is headed to Beijing as the official artist for the U.S. Olympic team.

He hopes to work with kids from each of the 205 Olympic nations to create a giant mile-long mural called "Hands Across the Oceans."

Wyland hopes the mural will bring the nations together and make people more aware of the environment.

"I chose China because I wanted to get this event on the world stage. I believe this is going to be one of the most important environmental events in history. The idea of inspiring kids to be ambassadors for the planet it just made perfect sense," Wyland said.

Painting will begin July 7 in Beijing. Wyland plans to work with kids from 14 nations each day and have the mural completed by July 21.

Wyland also plans to have 1 million kids present at the final unveiling. The entire event will be streamed live over the Internet.
