Honolulu police are looking for a man who stabbed to death another man in Kaneohe early Sunday morning in a nightclub in Kaneohe.

A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death outside Club Komomai at a Kaneohe shopping center strip mall on Kamehameha Highway, police said.

Two or three men started arguing in the club right next to the Kaneohe Fire Station at about 12:30 a.m., according to witnesses.

The dispute continued outside.

"Two males were involved in an argument in the parking lot and one of the males stabbed the other one," Honolulu Police Department Capt. Richard Robinson said.

Paramedics treated the 35-year-old man from Waimanalo and took him to Castle Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

"He had a wound to his torso, which is what the cause of death was," Robinson said.

Police could not say how many times the man was stabbed.

The victim and attacker were acquaintances, witnesses said.

"We know for sure one of them was drinking at the bar. We're not sure about the suspect," Robinson said.

There are conflicting accounts of why the men were arguing.

Police recovered a pocket knife on the scene. The alleged attacker escaped in a vehicle.

Police have not yet released the identity of the alleged attacker or his description. However, HPD records list the alleged attacker as a 19-year-old man.
