Gov. Linda Lingle's office on Sunday afternoon announced an action plan to salvage Aloha Airlines.

The state will ask the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to stop the shut down of Aloha Airlines until the airline has exhausted all possible avenues for continuing operation, Lingle said.

The state wants Aloha to provide financial information so the court can determine if the shutdown is necessary.

Lingle has activated a "Rapid Response Team" to help the 1,900 employees losing their jobs.

Lingle said she is "deeply disappointed" that Aloha has made the decision to cease operations.
