HONOLULU -- Honolulu City Council members said they are still deciding whether or not they will give first-round approval for steel wheels on steel rails in Oahu's planned rail system.Eric Ryan blasted sound outside City Hall to voice his concerns that the use of steel wheels would be too loud for island residents. Inside, others also complained about the rail's noise, KITV reported."Do you think if I did this 400 times a day I would have a complaint of disturbance from my neighbors?" said steel rail opponent Carolyn Crandall."Many citizens of Hawaii do not want it. I feel we the people are being railroaded," said steel rail opponent Sally Hall. However, some supporters of the project called the use of steel wheels the best."Steel on rail is technology that is proven," said rail supporter Kenneth Wong."It is one technology at a lower price, lower liability and better flexibility," said rail supporter A. J. Halagao.Council members are expected to make their final decision on the use of steel on April 16.
