One of the Saint Louis School's football players arrested Friday night following an egging incident and car chase in Lanikai is a University of Hawaii football recruit, KITV has learned.

Saint Louis' president said the school will conduct an investigation.

The lawyer for former Bishop Estate trustee Gerard Jervis denies that he rammed the boys' car after they egged his home. Witnesses to Friday's incident have disputed that claim.

Sources told KITV the 17-year-old Saint Louis senior at the wheel of a sport utility vehicle that crashed into the guide wires of this utility pole Friday was Geordan Hanohano. The 6 foot 3 inch tall, 270-pound defensive lineman has signed a letter of intent to play for the Warriors.

Hanohano is under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol and harassment, for allegedly throwing eggs into Jervis' property.

Three other Saint Louis seniors were in the SUV as well, sources told KITV.

The school's president said he is investigating.

"We will accept responsibility for any actions that may be inappropriate and we do want to do the right thing and take the right action," St. Louis School President Walter Kirimitsu said.

Kirimitsu said the accused students are still in classes at Saint Louis and he expects an investigation to take about one week, after which they will face some type of discipline. He said he does not think the boys will be expelled or barred from graduating.

"Whether the final outcome might affect their collegiate career is still subject to determination," Kirimitsu said.

A UH athletics spokesman said UH is waiting for the outcome of the criminal case before it decides whether that could affect Hanohano's future on the Warriors football team.

Jervis' lawyer claimed the teenager lost control of the car.

"Jervis maintains he did not, he did not strike him from behind with his vehicle. The kid went up the guide wire, and at that point Jervis came to rest against the car," attorney Paul Cunney said.

Police reports show witnesses and the boys in the SUV dispute that, saying that Jervis rammed the boy's vehicle with his BMW.

Jervis was arrested on criminal property damage and drunk driving charges. He was charged with criminal property damage and posted $40,000 bail on Sunday.

Witnesses told police that onlookers stopped Jervis from attacking the boys after the crash. Officers said Jervis' eyes were bloodshot and watery and he was "enraged" and argumentative with everyone he came in contact with at the crash scene.

Cunney said his client will plead not guilty to the criminal property damage charge.

Jervis was not in his Kailua law office on Monday. A receptionist said he is not doing interviews.

"He didn't go get a gun, he didn't try to shoot these kids, he went after them and tried to apprehend them and they ran away. They wouldn't respond to his flashing the lights and pull over, because they were guilty," Cunney said.

Police arrested Hanohano on driving under the influence and harassment charges.

"Our students are 24-hour students, so whether their behavior happens on campus or off campus, they're still held accountable," Kirimitsu said.

Police said they do not want people to intervene in such a way.

"Get the license plate number, get the description of the suspects in the vehicle, and that is enough for the officers. The last thing we want to do is provoke the situation," acting Maj. Nyle Dolera said.

While Lanikai residents complained they have been victimized by egging incidents for years, police said they have no record of their complaints to 911 over the last three months.

"If the residents don't call about these types of egg-throwing incidents, we will never know about it. So I encourage these people to please give us a call," Dolera said.
