State Adds Cell-Phone Lots To Neighbor Island Airports

POSTED: 2:51 pm HST February 29, 2008

The state Department of Transportation added cellular phone wait lots to three neighbor island airports.

The DOT first opened a lot at Honolulu International Airport. Now the airports at Kahului, Hilo and Lihue have the lots.

The lots provide a place for people to park while they are waiting to pick up arriving passengers. When they get the call that their friends or relatives have arrived, they're just minutes away from the terminal.

Parking is free. Drivers will be allowed to wait up to one hour, but they must remain with their car the entire time.
