Lava flows from Kilauea Volcano are threatening the homes of the last two residents at the Royal Gardens subdivision, but they said they do not want to leave.

Jack Thompson's house is still intact and he is still there. He runs a bed and breakfast, but said business has been lousy.

"Don't get too many customers, don't think they want to stay the night when the house is glowing red inside," Thompson said laughing.

Lava has blocked the road. The manmade asphalt simply burns and as the river of searing hot liquid and rock consumes it. So, Thompson has to walk three miles to get to his home.

Dean Schneider's home is in imminent danger, but he said he gets a thrill from the lava flows.

"They're exciting. How do you feel going down the road with a car a foot away from you going 150 mph? Because that does scare you. Lots of people die of that," Schneider said.

Schneider said if the lava takes his home, so be it. There is nothing he can do about, and so the lava flows onward.
