The state on Thursday unveiled a design for new vehicle license plates that help conservation efforts for native and endangered wildlife.

For $30.50 you can change your current license plates for one sporting a design of a Hawaiian honeycreeper and ohia blossom. Twenty dollars of that money will go to fund conservation programs.

"There are many people in our state who want to help to protect threatened and endangered species," Department of Land and Natural Resources Director Laura Thielen said. "This would allow anyone with a vehicle to participate and help these programs."

The proceeds will also help restore Hawaii forests, which are home to rare birds and wildlife.

The plates are on sale now at any Driver Motor Vehicle Registration office.
