Workers had to be evacuated briefly from the Frank Fasi Municipal building this afternoon because of a chemical odor.

The Honolulu Fire Department's hazmat team was called to the city building at about 1 p.m., after people complained of the strong chemical odor.

Someone had poured some solvent down a drain in the building, firefighters said.

The evacuation was done as a precaution and lasted only a short time, officials said.

The odor cleared, and business resumed in the building.
