Fort Shafter Soldier Dies Of Non-Combat Injuries In Iraq

A 19-year-old soldier out of Fort Shafter died in Iraq from non-combat injuries, Department of Defense officials said.

Pfc. Juctin R. P. McDaniel, of Andover, N.H., died Thursday in Baghdad from injuries he suffered in Taji, Iraq, officials said.

McDaniel joined the Army last year. He was assigned to Schofield Barracks in April and then was assigned to the 524th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 45th Sustainment Brigade, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Fort Shafter.

McDaniel had been in Iraq for about a month.

His death is under investigation, officials said.
